Offshore Printing: A Trip To Hong Kong
One of the many services we provide here at Barneys is offshore printing. This requires that we build and nurture relationships with our overseas Asian suppliers. We have found it’s incredibly important to forge deep relationships within many different Asian printers and printing factories to maintain high levels of quality and service. Moreover, this leads to competitive pricing for your offshore printing requirements.
Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair
Each year our Managing Director, Garry Barnett, visits the prestigious Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair to get a glimpse at new printing technology, packaging ideas and rekindle supplier relationships from the previous year. Meeting and greeting more great suppliers for future client projects is also a super-high priority. Running concurrently was the Hong Kong Gift & Premium Fair (the largest in the world) that dealt with promotional gifts and promotional merchandise both attracting more than 66,000 buyers from around the world.
Garry did note that amongst the thousands of attendees that were there, very few Australian companies attended to meet with the more than 4600 local and international exhibitors, who in many cases provided services and products unavailable in Australia.
Displays, New Promotional Products & Printing Processes
“There was so much to see that it was difficult to take in everything.” Garry explained “But I was blown away by some of the cardboard counter displays, freestanding / self assembly displays, specialty labels and the vast improvements in catalogue printing and book binding. The promotional gifts fair was also outstanding, especially the range and diversity of the corporate apparel, novelty corporate gifts and the specialty gifts such as a USB key in the shape of a spark plug and the diverse range of promotional drink bottles, tote bags, pens and key rings. There were even exhibitors for green printing and packaging solutions and promotional products made from recycled materials.”
Some of the other highlights noted by Garry, were UV digital printing, the promotional packaging section as well as newer promotional merchandise and apparel products.
Overall the fairs are daunting in size but well worth the trip as we constantly source new printing and promotional merchandise suppliers. With many of these suppliers we have such good ongoing relationships we can work with them on product development. The ability to deal face to face with new suppliers helps us to choose only the very best for your offshore printing and promotional merchandise projects.
